Our Story — Friends Since 12

Midwife and entrepreneur founders of Midwife In A Box smiling together

Tahera and Jamarah’s partnership didn’t begin in the boardroom, it began in friendship. They met at age 12, sharing locker-room secrets, dreams of changing the world and discovering a bond built on respect, aspiration and mutual uplift. They remained best friends through high school, early careers and life changes.

Years later, when Jamarah’s midwifery and birth-justice work aligned with Tahera’s business vision for inclusive care, they finally said yes to building something together. With excitement and shared purpose, they launched Midwife In A Box, a postpartum recovery kit born from their combined experience: one part clinical-community midwifery, one part entrepreneur’s dedication to wellness and access.

Their friendship and business are inseparable: they lean on each other’s strengths, hold each other accountable, and remain united in the belief that every mother deserves healing, comfort and outstanding self-care after birth.
